# Save States

## Overview

Save states let users save and resume their progress in a simulation. Authors create checkpoints at various stages. Each checkpoint captures the current state of the simulation, including State Actions, Conditions, Hints, and any relevant data.

## How to add save states

1. Click the settings icon.
2. Go to the user interface option under **Checkpoint**.
3. Mark the checkpoint to add a save state for the selected state.
4. Whenever a user enters this state, their game state is saved. When they exit and re-enter the simulation, they are offered a choice to continue where they left off or restart the simulation.
