# Default Attributes

Attributes that are automatically added to every asset in the scene: Visibility, Grabbed, Snapped, Kinematic, Grabbable and Grab Type.

A set of attributes is added automatically to every asset added to the scene. Every created object has these attributes, and they can be adjusted in the [Attributes](/hyperskill-studio-authoring/state-machine-reference/scenario-flow/attributes.md) panel.

## Visibility

The Visibility attribute determines whether an Entity is active or not. If this attribute is false, the Entity is temporarily removed from the space and no functionality works with the object until Visibility is set to true. This also makes the object invisible to the user.

## Grabbed

The Grabbed attribute is read-only. Use it to see whether an object is currently grabbed by the user: the value is true while the object is held and false otherwise.

## Snapped

The Snapped attribute is used to change an object's location and parenting. By default an object is unsnapped. To set Snapped, select a different VO and then select a Hitbox on that VO (adding Hitboxes is outlined in the "How to Create a Hitbox with a Virtual Object" section). The object's initial position and rotation then change to those of the selected Hitbox, and the Entity becomes a child of the selected VO Instance.

## Kinematic

The Kinematic attribute makes an object no longer be affected by external forces, such as gravity. If Kinematic is true, the object cannot be moved by another object pushing into it, and if it is set or released in the air it stays where it was released.

## Grabbable

The Grabbable attribute defines whether an object can currently be interacted with using the Grab function. It must be true to use any of the Grab Type functions.

## Grab Type

### Basic

Grab Type always defaults to Basic. With Basic, a grabbed object follows the grabbed location: the controller in VR, or the grab point on Desktop/Web. In VR the grabbed object does not pass through other objects. If it is pushed into them with enough force it is released from the grab, or it pushes other objects around if they are not Kinematic.

### Slider

The Slider Grab Type makes the grabbed object slide along the designated axis, for the length of the distance, before stopping as if it is on an invisible rail.

* **Axis:** X, Y or Z.
* **Max Length:** any value, negative or positive, given in meters.
* **Initial Position:** a normalized value between 0 and 1 for how far along the slider the object starts. 0 is the initial position, 1 is the end specified by the Max Length, and 0.5 is halfway along the total possible length.

Rest Position and Rest Threshold are only usable in VR experiences. Both are normalized values between 0 and 1 along the slider, where 0 is the initial position, 1 is the end specified by the Max Length, and 0.5 is halfway.

* **Rest Position:** the location the Entity returns to on grab release if the Rest Threshold is not reached.
* **Rest Threshold:** the value that must be exceeded, or the object returns to the Rest Position on grab release.

On a Desktop or Web experience, an object with the Slider Grab Type is engaged with the Grab Button and then moved with the K and L keys. K moves the object in a negative direction and L in a positive direction.

### Rotator

The Rotator Grab Type makes the grabbed object rotate along the designated axis through the degrees specified by the Min/Max Angle.

* **Axis:** X, Y or Z.
* **Min/Max Angle:** any value, negative or positive.
* **Initial Angle:** a normalized value between 0 and 1 for where the object starts. 0 is the Min Angle, 1 is the Max Angle, and 0.5 is halfway through the total possible rotation.

Rest Position and Rest Threshold are only usable in VR experiences. Both are normalized values between 0 and 1 along the rotation, where 0 is the Min Angle, 1 is the Max Angle, and 0.5 is halfway.

* **Rest Position:** the location the Entity returns to on grab release if the Rest Threshold is not reached.
* **Rest Threshold:** the value that must be exceeded, or the object returns to the Rest Position on grab release.

On a Desktop or Web experience, an object with the Rotator Grab Type is engaged with the Grab Button and then moved with the K and L keys. K moves the object in a negative direction and L in a positive direction.
