# Transitions

Transitions are used by the State Machine to control what is available to the End User during the experience. They are visualized as the arrows drawn between states. States can only be reached through these connected transitions, except for the Entry State, which is the state the simulation begins in. Each Transition can have one Trigger and as many Conditions as you need.

The Trigger types for a transition are described in the child pages: [Use](/hyperskill-studio-authoring/state-machine-reference/scenario-flow/transitions/use.md), [Snap](/hyperskill-studio-authoring/state-machine-reference/scenario-flow/transitions/snap.md), [Proximity](/hyperskill-studio-authoring/state-machine-reference/scenario-flow/transitions/proximity.md), [Collide](/hyperskill-studio-authoring/state-machine-reference/scenario-flow/transitions/collide.md), [Utterance](/hyperskill-studio-authoring/state-machine-reference/scenario-flow/transitions/utterance.md) and [Use Release](/hyperskill-studio-authoring/state-machine-reference/scenario-flow/transitions/use-release.md).
